Typefaces, Creative Exercise
These are my typefaces for 7 different kind of company.
1. For a preschool geared towards arts education
The font that I use for this brand is "Sketch Rockwell". I feel this is an appropriate choice because it look fun and playful for the kids.
2. A local wine shop
The font that I use is "Savoye LET". I want to make it look simple, crisp and elegant as same as wine tasted, so I use the very neat and clear handwriting typeface.
3. A shipping company
I use "Myrid Pro Italic" because it give movement which relate to the company. Interestingly, one of my friend found that it has double arrows between letter "E" and "X" that will compete with "Fedex" because we have double arrows mean double faster.
4. An athletic shoes store
"Princetown LET"
5. An accounting firm
"Orator Std"
6. A pet-sitting business
"Joint by PizzaDude"
7. A doctor's office
"Birch Std"

Redwood National Park webpage
Artist Statement
Considering various characteristics of the Redwood National Park - cultural and historic landscapes, wildlife, wildflowers, natural features, ecosystems, activities as a ranger, and most importantly, the official website itself provides resourceful information and images which are fairly enough to create new websites, I am passionate about designing three different websites targeted to kids, families, and scientists.
The very first design is for kids, the webpages are projected to be less complicated and easy to use, expecting kids to acquire best knowledge possible. In doing so, having more images can capture their attention and I advertently created banners that show vivid colored backgrounds with the drawing tress to illustrate Redwood’s forest. To stimulate the senses to visit the website, the navigator bar is devised as ladders of a tree house making it fun and playful.
The second design is for families. More information is provided and made easy to hunt for desired information by coming up with a search box. The overall layout is divided into three columns. A navigator bar is in the left column, the middle contains maps and contact address, and the right column gives general information of Redwood’s National Park.
The final design is for scientists, who needless to say expect in-depth knowledge if they are visiting the website. To make it resourceful, information alone might not satisfy their needs of knowledge. Statistics, data, and other necessary materials are add-ons, functionally designed in three bright colored columns – blue, white, and green – comprising a navigator bar, texts, and news & updates respectively. One of the reasons to use white color as a main reading space is that it gives soft visual sense preventing eye strain when viewing, because the section has a full length of information to focus on. The three colored columns brings out the good combination in terms of the function usage and the art designs.
